6.EXT. CUSTOMER DOOR - NOON

 

Morgan smiles brightly as she knocks on the customer’s door. The door opens and a KIND LADY steps out, grabbing the boxes from her. She hands Morgan a couple bills, and waves her goodbye. The door closes with a soft CLICK. 

Morgan immediately relaxes, her smile drops and she massages her cheeks. She’s been smiling all day and her face is getting really sore.

She turns and leaves the way she came, still massaging her jaw.

 

7.EXT. MORGAN’S CAR - NOON

 

Morgan walks towards her car, still massaging her face, and pauses when she sees her guitar peek out the open passenger-side window at her. The guitar seems to be cheering her on with a HAPPY SONG.

A genuine smile blossoms on Morgan’s face.

 

8.INT. MORGAN’S CAR - NOON

 

Morgan gets into the driver's seat and raises her hand for the guitar to high-five. The guitar butts her hand with its head.

Morgan giggles a bit, turns on the ignition and the car is started.

9.EXT. VARIOUS CUSTOMER APARTMENTS - DAY

Sound of pizza place plates CLATTER and silverware TINKLES

 

MONTAGE

6 pizza boxes drop into Morgan’s arms. The camera zooms in on her hands and then back out. A customer opens the door, a quick transaction, the customer WAGS HIS FINGER at Morgan. Morgan’s hair blows back as door SLAMS shut. Morgan’s smile wavers slightly as she stands there.

 

8 pizza boxes drop into Morgan’s arms. The camera zooms in on her hands and then back out. A customer opens the door, Morgan looks more disheveled than before, a BABY BOTTLE FLIES out at Morgan and she catches it. She hands the boxes in with the bottle, and the door SLAMS shut. Morgan’s smile droops.

 

10 pizza boxes drop into Morgan’s arms. The camera zooms in on her hands and then back out. A customer opens the door, Morgan looks more disheveled than before, she is straining to smile, and it’s barely a smile anymore. She is standing there showing the open pizza box. The customer SLAMS THEIR HAND onto the box having seen that their pizza is messed up from the ride. He slams the door shut in her face. Morgan’s smile drops completely. Her shoulders slump and she walks off.

10.EXT. MORGAN’S CAR - AFTERNOON

 

As Morgan is walking towards her car after the delivery, she sees two TEENAGERS on the passenger side, trying to play with her guitar. They had pulled it out of the rolled down window and had started to strum it. The chords are grating and ugly, and the two teenagers HOWL with laughter as they fool around.

Morgan points and SCREAMS at the teenagers.

 

MORGAN

panicked and furious

Stop it! Put it down!

 

The teenagers jump in surprise, and drop the guitar. The guitar hits the ground, and the teenagers take off running.

Morgan races forward and kneels down next to her guitar. There is a large fracture where the head and neck of the guitar meet. A string has come off and it hangs loosely. She gingerly scoops it up, and the guitar lifts its head to look at her. Then the guitar goes limp in her arms. She sits there crying.
