"Outdoor Living" : Concept and Composition

Modeled with Autodesk Maya, ZBrush

Sketch made in Adobe Photoshop

Back in high school, every time we drove into the nearby mountains for summer music training we would drive past RV camps, and they had always looked so cozy. I was (and still am) fascinated how everything needed for living can fit in a car on a small parcel of land. I loved how the interiors were always made up of efficiently designed spaces, and collapsable multi-use furniture.

The image of a forest clearing being a permanent (or at least semi-permanent) residence had been floating around my brain for a while before I decided to put it down onto paper. I wanted it to be a small space between some trees that is the home to someone who has lived here for a little while.

I wanted to frame the whole scene with two foreground trees each curving inwards to focus the shot + figuring out where the lawn chair and horseshoe shaped rock formation would be placed in the scene.

Ropes and other elements that point inwards towards the RV (more specifically the doorway).

My current progress for the scene. I added a character (character rig "Bonnie" by Josh Sobel) in the doorway as the owner of this lot.
